Post Tire Info

When i look for tires and see 38.5x11x15, that means i am looking at a 38.5 inch tire, for 15 inch rims, and the width of the tread is only 11 inches. How can they make a bogger that skinny. Why do they make them wider for 35, 37, and 39.5 inch tires and not 38.5's. I need a wide tire because of my setup but i also need a 38 or up. Anything smaller just wouldnt look or wheel right with me. I mean i can fit 44's i just dont want to break my axles and driveshafts. I would like to have a bogger for some extreme mud but wont mind a TSL or SX. Actually how good is the SX tires. is the 11 inch wide tire actually wider or is it really only 11 inches from the farthest part of the tread across to the opposite side of the tread. Or are the 38.5's actually wide. Any help would be great cause i dont have a store near me and i have to order these so i only want to do it once. thankyou.

actually the 11 isn't even tread width. It's the side wall the side wall. The widest part the tire.
