If you are running stock with no modifications I doubt that you would get enough boost to cause problems. I have run with my red line plugged since the second day I've owned it no problems . I have some mods done now so I keep an eye on my gauges ( boost &pyro one of my mods) I can see 30+ on the boost gauge but I don't keep it there long if I remember right the computer defuels at 24lbs of boost most stock psd will not see the high side of 20.
I'm new to the diesel world. So forgive me but what exactly is the SES and what do you mean by I will defuel.
Right now everything is stock. I just bought the truck a few weeeks ago. It's a 2001 F250 PSD 4X4. For now I am goin the poor man's way and just gonna use the stock exhaust but make it straight pipe. Thanks for the input about the wastegate. I appreciate it. Also another question about disabling is what kinda driving habits should i avoid? If anything.

Welcome to FTE Fire85. Stick around and you can learn a lot here with a bunch of guys willing to help.
SES = Service Engine Soon.
defueling is when the PCM senses that the engine has passed certain perameters that are programmed and reduces the amout of fuel injected into the engine. Excessive boost pressure is one condition that will cause the PCM to defuel.
When you disconnect the wastegate line, you loose the ability for the PCM to control the wastegate but it will still open when excessive boost pressures are encountered. It will add a small amount of power but sacrafice fuel milage.
Well first off, chances of blowing your motor or turbo are probable since you don't have forged internals and you run the risk of overboosting which might not happen with a stock application but I wouldn't do that!! Secondly for $75 you can purchase a bigger wastegate from banks which is definetly your safest bet. Last my truck runs 33 psi of boost and doesn't defuel at 24 mpg nor does it defuel period because it remains within safe parameters.
I never once experienced turbo surge until I disconnected my wastegate line a couple of weeks ago. I drove for maybe a quarter mile (laying on it) and then pulled over and put it back on. The surge was just too extreme and I didn't want to take a chance of grenading my turbo. Keep that in mind if you have other mods like a chip.
Frankly I agree. I took the line off, even posted about it, but now with new injectors, I'm putting it back on. I go over 30lbs regular like and I dont want to. Even if the turbo can take it . . .
Of course, i could just fix my foot. That'd probably help too.
