if an armed society is a polite one than america should be the politest because america has the largest private gun ownership in the world.
Everyone carrying one on them. Not owning 15 in a safe, at home where they cannot be used.
Say even if 5 out of 10 carried, would you try to rob a store? Car jack someone? Break into a house? I doubt it. If no one had guns what would your answers be? The cops already have showen they could not have stopped this. So now what do you rely on? Maybe send your kids to college in England, just tell them not to ride the subway though, they were not killed with a gun, nor are many in Ireland, those were all bombs. So be a little more realistic.
What hit me about this is thinking how you would feel if it were one of your kids that died in there. You spend 18 + years raising them, hoping they do well, make the right friends, stay off drugs, do well in school and grow up to be generally a good, productive person. Most, if not all of, these kids had achieved that or were well on their way when this a**hole jumps in and does this. It makes me mad as hell that he killed himself too. I would love to have the sob forced to hear from every family and then get turned over to a bunch of pissed off inmates who have nothing to lose by taking him out with extreme prejudice.
washington state has a ccw and yet in 2005 had 205 murders with a population just over 6 million.
the UK has over 50 million with just 40 something murders.
political motivated terror attacks have nothing to do with random acts of violence, apples and oranges, plus i lived in london for 2 years, never a problem riding the tube there.
so what, make everyone carry a gun? as i said, washington state has a ccw and still has 205 murders in 2005. so obviously the fact that someone might potentially have a weapon is not a end all answer for violent crime.
if anything, not only having a ccw, but also PROMOTING poeple to carry, even if they don't have the mental capacity to do so is just inviting trouble.
its not the ccw i am against, heck i am all for it, my reasoning is that enforcing the idea to people who do not have a concept of weapons or tactics (and the cute traing course is not going to teach anything). last thing i want to do is walk around a bunch of people who don't have the mind set of dangerous situations or self control under pressure. i rather the gun holders have the natural tendacy to feel at ease handling a weapon in a situation and making right decisions. that is something that in my mind and from experience, can not be taught.
well, i imagine the guilt factor of being the parents of the killer. i couldn't even begin to understand how they feel responsible for this in some way.
but i do feel for the killer's family, they not only lost their kid, but also their kid is responsible for one of the most horrific crimes in america.
What if it was your kid. And he didn't kill himself?
I'm not sure what u mean.
If I were that murderers parents, I'd be considering suicide, if he was dead or in jail. They were still responsible for raising a monster that killed 31 people, and that is what the problem is today.
Now, if the kid had just gone in the woods and blown his own brains out (we wish!) It would have been a personal tragedy that may be very difficult to deal with, but not as bad as having 31 lost lives on your conscience.
A Parents self-esteem, reputation, and honor are directly influenced by what their children do.
I guess if it was my son I would want to know why he did it. Of course a parent's pride is at stake. But it's still your child. And as a parent you can't protect them from everything. I'm reading seung's biography on wiki, and there's already a long list of people who knew this kid wasn't right.
