i have a 02 ford ranger edge with a 6 cd changer and i was wondering if i would be able to hook up a sub and amp to it or do i need to buy a whole new deck?
You could do a factory integration like a rockford 360 or kenwood one, and then to an amp. It allows you to keep your existing hardware but have a cleaner signal and a system that performs like a high end stereo system...
yeah you can... 1. The factory integration allows you to amp and run a subwoofer, any kind and it will also make the speakers have higher clarity. All the factory integration does its process your signal coming off the factory deck and allows for different equalizer settings and the addition of a few other gadgets. 2. You could also run an amp with line level outputs to a sub and not have to worry about the factory integration. 3. Another option you have is to run a self powered sub and not have to worry about selecting the right amplifier for the sub you want to run. A powered subwoofer won't win any contests but it will provide MUCH more bass than speakers ever could.
I am running a Kenwood KSC-WD250 right now in my diesel and with the windows down I can still hear the bass plenty going highway speeds... I have no complaints. Stay away from the KSC-SW1. It has to work way to hard in order to supply any bass and is easily overworked.
If you want to amp your speakers too, I would spend the extra $$ on an Infinity Bass link II with a 4SC amplifier add on. It is self contained and allows you to amp 4 speakers as well as add the subwoofer.... bit spendy though.
Hope I helped!
