I have found that unless you drive a lot of miles having a second vehicle to cut down on fuel costs doesn't really work. The money you save on fuel is ate up by insurance and maintanance on the second vehicle. At least that's how it worked out for me.
Plus if your F-250 is a 6.0,,,thats going to be the worst thing for it,,sitting,= turbo rusting = troubles ahead,,$ 2k of cool stuff,,and keeping that SuperDuty 8 Burning, 4 turning,,,Priceless,,
Wow - when you do the math, fuel is a big cut into the budget.
20000 miles per year and you are spending around (over?) $3000 per year on fuel, depending on price.
A 30 mpg rice burner will save you around $1500 per year assuming you are getting 15-17 mpg in the truck. Hmmm ..... it might pay out in a year or two?
If I have say $ 2000 dollars should I get A small car for fuel milage and keep road salt off my truck in the winter, or get cool stuff for my o6 250
I would be with everyone else on this, if you were to actually find a used one for 2k, it is going to eat you up in amount of repairs as by that time anything that would get good mileage that has a 2k stickers is getting down to the end of it's lifespan w/o some major overhauls(on average, I'm sure there are exceptions). I would also say cool stuff, you can't take it with you, might as well enjoy it while you can.
Definetely cool stuff for your truck. I have a friends who has his sitting around and drives a small care daily. The last two trips he has gone one have had problems. One the veins on turbo stuck and he ended up having to be towed to a dealer. The next trip engine light came on and needed to be re-flashed (not really sure what the actual problem was). Get stuff for the truck and drive it like it is meant to be driven- hard!!!
