Diamondback cover for 08s
I just ordered a Diamondback SE in black powdercoat for my '08 long bed super duty. The salesperson informed me that the bed rail configuration for '08 was not an issue for their center mounted hinge assembly. That might imply that the '08 bed rail configuration is unchanged from last year, and/or that their mounting setup can handle either without mods.

Hard Tonneaus
Sure thing - I ordered it through a local dealer as opposed to direct or through mail order. Then I could see the brochure and talk to someone who recommended that I only needed their "SE" model for my needs. Because I wanted the black powdercoat, the final cost to me - installed - is $1725.
My last truck was a short bed F250 - and I had an "undercover" cover which I was very happy with - but it appears that they don't offer a full long bed cover, so I went looking elsewhere.
Anticipated delivery is the 1st week in may...

Diamondback Cover installed
My diamondback black powder coat cover is now installed. I ended up doing the install myself and it was rather easy (Saved the $85 charge from the dealer). I love the look of it and the utility of being able to stack weight on top and tie it down, but there are 2 things I don't like about it:
1) The underside of the '08 SD bed rails (and other years too I hear) have very sharp creased metal edges. The locking mechanism is a pair of arms with rubber covers that wedge underneath the bed rails as the handle/lock is turned to "closed." Everything works fine, but if the close pressure on those bars is too little, the cover squeaks and rattles where the lock bars rub against the sharp edges. Make it too tight, and the top is very hard or impossible to close without standing on the cover to force the bars below the bed rails.
Diamondback knows of bed rail issue, and supplies small plastic covers to put overtop of the sharp edges to prevent the rubber on the arms from getting torn up, but I find that when you operate the lock a few times, the plastic covers tend to come off the rails - forcing me to crawl into the bed to fix them. I might try epoxying them into place. I would like to see some sort of improvement in the mechanism. (I should note that because my bed has a LINE-X liner sprayed in, those sharp metal edges are slightly coated - so they are a little fatter than the edge covers are designed to fit over.)
Each time I adjust the lock bars the squeak/rattle/close pressure problem gets better, but it's taken 3 times to get it "right" - since the truck itself is so solid and quiet the cover rattle bothers me.
2) Underneath the cover are "U" shaped aluminum beams to hold the weight of anything strapped to the top, and to stiffen the covers. In 3 places the bond between the diamondplate and the beams (some sort of glue it looks like - not a weld) was broken, causing the diamondplate to rattle loudly against the beams while the truck was in motion. I solved the problem in the short term by slipping a piece of damping cardboard in the crack between the 2 surfaces and the noise vanished.
I didn't expect to encounter a noisy tonneau cover for $2000 in cost (with tax).
I had no problems getting it to fit on the '08 bed rails even though the unit was manufactured last year for an '06 / '07 model bed. You would have to be careful if you have the tail gate fold out step option though - that might change the dimensions at the rear of the bed such that the cover wouldn't fit right.

The Diamondback covers are manufactured here in Pennsylvania, Philipsburg, west of State College.
I took my cover to them last October to install new hinges. The original hinges broke off. The male pin was steel going into an aluminum female socket. Dissimilar metals and water equated to the steel pins seizing in the aluminum sockets, ripping the hinges from the cover. No hinge problems now since they installed the updated ones.
