Serpt Belt ?

I'm getting ready to order some parts for the truck and I'm going to replace my belt, but I'm getting two part numbers, one for trucks with the cold weather package & one with out. Whats the cold weathr pkg and how do I tell if my truck has it or not, so I can get the right belt.

Thanks
Rich

If you have the Exhaust back pressure valve in the outlet flange from the turbo you have the cold package. Look right where the outlet connects to the downpipe on the bottom toward the turbo there will be a little lever where a rod connects that goes to the pedestal base.

That would be it. Most truck did have it you would have had to order it with the cold weather delete package.

So back to the original question: what is the difference in the drive belts between the two? I'm scratchin' my head over that one. What would the engineers eliminate?

I double checked at one of the parts warehouses that I have an account with and the only choices are with ambulance prep or without.
That would be whether it has dual alternators or not.
They don't list a third option at all that mentions cold weather package or not.

Me too, the only length difference is the single / dual alt setups. I have seen different rib count belts for the 7.3. Maybe the non CAP trucks have a different rib count?

I saw that also Kwik while crusing the web for prices. Some sites listed single alt & dual alt, and some of the sites I was checking out list all the part numbers the way I think the dealer looks them up cause I would get cold & non cold pkg, and single & dual alt, but once I started looking close at the numbers for the belts the cold & non cold where the same number which had me confused.

So to me it looks like there are thre types of belts single & dual alt, and one # for cold & non cold pkg.

My truck was equipped with a cold weather package. When I had to a new one i got the one that was the shorter of the two which was non cold weather package. I asked them what the difference was and they said one is a very little bit smaller, which is cold weather. My belt doesnt vibrate no more.
