Cam question

In what order do you put a cam in terms of degrees and lift say from stock to most agressive. I don't know a thing about cams as you can see and would like to school myself on this topic. The reason I ask is because a friend of mine is building and engine and he got a cam with 280/280 duration and I believe .5 lift or something like that. He does not know a thing either but his plans are for a step above stock on his engine.

280 is way above stock.

For a decent explanation check out Comp Cams website.
