How do I raise the front of my 87 250 2x4 a couple inches to make it level?Needs at least two inches, can I put some kind of coil spacer in?If so who makes one for this year and application?
The 4x2 trucks have the twin I-beam suspension which is not the most friendly set up for leveling. Like the 4x4 version the twin traction beam (TTB) if everything is not perfect it will chew your front tires off. The axle is split in the center which gives the difficulty in doing it right. Apply to much pressure to the outside mounts by using lifting devices ie: blocks, bags, taller springs etc your tires will get cocked at odd angles. The kits I have seen basically involves rebuilding and lifting your front end with extension brackets for the center mounts etc. By leveling your truck it also is going to lower your max payload of the vehicle and so on. I would convert it to 4x4 with a D60 front axle before I would try to lift a Twin I-beam. My 2 Pennies
When I installed the Ride Rite air bags on my IFS axle in my 250 I tried different air pressures while I was at the alignment shop.
10 PSI raised the front height about 1/2".
Any more than that and there was not enough adjustment to be able to get the camber back anywhere close to specs.
More air threw the caster, camber and toe in way out of line unless I had my plow on the truck.
The plow weight put the front ride height back down where it was before I put the air bags on.
Thanks guys....guess I'll really have to bite the bullet and put that D-60 and C-6/1356 in after all....have them sitting off to the side but was on the fence about keeping it very close to stock....
