95 Psd

Hey guys.new to posting here....but lurking for a while!Tons of info!!!Great place.I first found this place when i ran into some trouble replacing a fuel line in my wife's 97 f150.I also own a 95 psd.I work as a heavy equipment mechanic for a place that has 3 ford pickups 2-02 and 1-04.Real nice trucks but man they have some issues. In the past i wanted to replace my 95 with a new one but since decided after working on these to 3 to just fix this one up real nice. After 240,000 miles with almost no major repairs she deserves it,and will be a far better truck than the new ones.Again great site and thanks for having me.......Rob

This truck has done a ton of work since i've owned her.Since i can't find anything else to replace her, even bowing my head in shame...looking at the duramaxes,**** on dodge with cummins coming apart or cummins togrther. The new fords 95+ don't cut it in my book,so i'm going to do a little work on my liitle girl. When i bought this truck new i knew the engine would last a long time, but figured everything else would puke.I was right....My 5 speed man.ate from day one(they even tell you that in better words in the tech manual). The DMF lasted way longer than expected 110,000..replaced with a SMF luk the clutch is way better but have been nursing this trans along with real hard shifts 1-2 and for the record even 3rd when it's cold. This truck is also plagued with a right side rear axle seal leak that won't go away no matter how many times you fix it.All and all this rig has seen her share of hard work and abuse but since i can't find nothing to my liking with the same mileage and same durabilitly i'm going to restore her. Here is my to do list............new trans...or maybe Jaspers or maybe i'll do it,fix rear fuel tank..slight leak, front end needs minor work(center link).I did the rest of the front end last year including all u-joints.I'm dreaming now but .........new head liner, new driver side arm rest, some privacy glass, new wheels and a paint job!bet i can do it all for under 6000 and have a truck that pees on the new fords.............whatcha think??

Ya our 5 speeds have their fair share of issues but they are pretty stout to hold the powerstrokes power. After you get all that cosmetic and mechanical stuff worked out then you can start upgrading that motor. I personally like these body style trucks and can tell you I would hate to have a $1000/month payment.
