Help! 2000 F150 Door unlocking problem?

Now I am in the right place...

I have two pressing problems. Well, three.

I am novice and i need to see if I can do this myself. I have brains but limited strength and I am not afraid to break a nail or two.. But I need some good insight to get this done right.

My remote control will not open my truck doors. I hear a clicking under the dash and I see the door locks trying to go up. What could be the problem. Is it a relay gone bad under the dash or is it the actuator in the door, ie both doors. If I keep prssing the open button the locks do less and less jumping.

Thrid problem
my keypad on the door does not operate. Are these two problems related?

I have read some of the old FAQ's, But, with the clicking coming from under the dash, well, I did not want to take off the panels if I did not need too.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

the most common problem with the door locks would be the controller inside the door. they just get old and tired. sounds like they are trying, but just dont have the power- old and worn. sometimes a littel WD40 helps, bu the fix is new electric opener. i just bought a pair of "universal" on e-bay for a mustang and will install in a couple weeks. Thats the most common, weak opener.

I had an acuator go bad on my 99 explorer, but the other three doors worked ok. Doesn't sound to me like trouble is in the door.

It sounds like the actuators to me. The remotes tried to un-lock the doors, but just wouldn't. The locks would still lock automatically, just not un-lock.

This thread has the part numbers and where you can get them.

I replaced both of mine in December. It is a PITA, but once you get one side figured out, the other side will be easier.

Welcome to the forum Ginger

In the FAQs there are some hints for removing the door trim panel and replacing the actuators. Take a look at https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ere-first.html

I had the EXACT same problem, and it is definitely the actuator in the door, it looks like it wants to open but wont go up, the gears strip in the actuator, they are plastic and fail over time. gaurantee'd it;s your actuator in the door...

My passenger door actuator started making a noise like a rattlesnake last weekend when ever the door lock switch was pushed. It was quite annoying.

I don't have the time to replace the actuater so followed the great instructions we have on this site to disassemble the door and just pulled the plug off the actuater.

It unlocks with the door handle on the inside and the key on the out side just no electric door lock on the passenger side.

keypad 2000 F150

The keypad is not operating. Will not even light up when I put in numbers. Any ideas what to look into.
