I was reading in the superduty forum and it said the 08 rear differential cover will fit our trucks and holds a quart more fluid and has fins for cooling. And they are cheap from the dealer, they said 39 bucks. Here is the link to that post https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...ear-axles.html
Just thought i would share this in case anyone wanted to change over.
I just wish it were black. I dont like the look of chrome or aluminum under our trucks, just looks out of place to me. I may consider getting one for 39 bucks, however.
I hate to tell you but the cheap price you were quoted was probably for a steel cover just like the rest. I called the dealer and there are two different covers. One my cost was $130 and the other was less then half that. They couldn't tell me what they were made out of but my bet is that the more expensive one is the aluminum finned cover and the cheaper one is the stamped steel.
wow that's a bummer. I will have to call and see. Hopefully that's not the case, a couple of those guys in the superduty forum ordered them already, bet they will be surprised to see a normal steel cover. the part number was listed in the post, i wonder if that is the steel or finned cover number?
well i just used the part number off the other thread and it is a cheap cover. 30 some odd dollars but if you look at the ebay auction there is a part number on the aluminum cover and it not the same
the cheap cover is part number 8C34-4033-A
but the ebay pics shows a AA suffix that would be the more expensive cover. The ebay auction is a good price even with shipping unless you get wholesale prices. My cost is $130 something and list price is $170 something. It was just too good to be true.
