Hey guys the new '08 rear diff covers will fit the 10.25" & 10.5" rear axles. Get them from the dealer before they change the pricing, from $39-$62 in my area. Placed two on order, DON'T waste the money on EBAY auctions unless you want to pay a bit more in price.

From the 08's I've seen on dealer lots it appears only the Diesels get the finned cover. All gassers seem to still use the stamped steel ones. I do thank you for the info though.

Ordered mine today cost me 45.00 + tax going to epoxy it & paint it silver so it dont look bad when weathered.

my guess from calling the dealer and finding out there are two differnt ones. one cheaper, one not. they are all getting the stamped steel ones. we'll find out when they get them in from the dealer.

 

I would have thought a 4.10 (or whatever) rear end was the same in gas or diesel. Or is this one of those things figured into that $6000 plus diesel option.

 

they are the samr rear end. when i called the dealer they wanted to know gear ratio the truck had so thats probablt the difference. many of the gassers may have 3.73 gears and the disels may have had 4.10 gears. i don't know any of that for sure but the parts counter did ask what ratio i had and that made a difference as to which cover it should have.

 

Probably right about depending on axle ratio, I noticed the finned covers on an F450 but I did not check the sticker to see the axle ratio. The diesel come in 4 different versions 3.73, 4.10, 4.30, and a 4.83. The gasser only comes with 4.10, 4.30 and 4.83 (if I remember correctly) . I looked at other '08 but forgot to check the rear end cover
