I ran my truck on a 351 computer just to see what happened, and I wouldn't recommend it at all. It wouldn't idle, it pinged heavily, and ran grossly rich. You will be much better off with a 302 computer.
Because the truck that the 302 EEC computer came out of the transmission is not computer controlled (AOD).
An E4OD is controlled by the PCM computer, changing the oil pressure, changing gears, clutch lock up and on and on.
Thats just great! Looks like i may have yet another problem. So what are the chances that my 1990 f250 has an e4od in it?
Look at the code under Trans on the door pillar or the numbers on the Trans tag. Post them and we tell you what you have.
Here is an image of the pillar label. http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g9...rd/IDLabel.gif
Start by figuring out what transmission you have in the truck and what transmission was in the truck your computer came out of. LMC truck has a guide in the link following. The drawings in bottom right corner of the page will help you identify the trans based on the shape of and number of bolts in the trans pan. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fd/0009.asp
You can also look at the trans code on the safety compliance sticker on the driver's side door pillar. There will be a letter under "TRANS" such as G, T, or E. G = C6; T = AOD; E = E4OD; and later models might have U = 4R70W.
Do you have the program code off the 302 computer? It is a series of 3 or 4 letters and numbers that appear on the bar code sticker on the plug end of the computer. It may be something like E1A1 or C9Z. Post those here and someone will tell you what engine/trans combination the computer is calibrated for.
