Brrrrr its cold.....Jumping Tailgate Window Motor
I lowered the tailgate window 2 days ago and it won't go back up. I am certain there is a short somewhere. My kids are freezing and snow is blowing in. Can some one walk me through jumping the window motor- I'll fix it right in the spring. Thanks

Remove the acess panel from the tailgate find the two wires going to the window motor and add a jumper to each one then add juice to reverse the motor just reverse the wires.

I've got a bad switch on my 79. All I do when I need to move the window up or down is pull the green wire plugs apart that are closest to the motor (after removing the access panel). I stick a 2 or 3 foot length of wire in one side of the plug going to the window motor and ground it to the tailgate with one of the access cover screws. I snap one end of an 8 foot wire behind one of my fuses under the dash and stick the other end in the open side of the green plug when I'm ready to move the window. If it doesn't go up, reverse the wires in the plug. My brother runs the hot wire from the battery instead of the fuse panel - I don't know if it matters. Good luck.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Jan-02 AT 11:38 AM (EST)]On my 78 the problem was in the key operated switch on the tailgate. It was rusted bad. I bypassed the tailgate switch and I have never had a problem since just using the dash switch.
