I have a 302 in my bronco , I have hedman hedders and dual exhaust i'm putting an Edelbrock performer series cam and intake manifold kit on it (idle-5,500rpm)I'm wondering what size of carb to put on it, a 500 or a 600cfm Edelbrock performer series carb and about how much hp will I gain??? thanks
A 500 cfm works good pretty well on a stock or mildly built 302. It seems like you have to always jet down a 600 or bigger to get them to run properly.
It's difficult to determine what HP gain you may have without engine specifics.
Can you find any casting numbers on the block or on the cylinder heads?
After '64 they started using a metal tag to ID an engine. But these tags are easily lost. If it was built after 1970, Ford stamped the VIN number on the left rear side of the block just below the cylinder head. From 1960-81, the 5th digit of the VIN designates the engine code. Is this the number that you found?
