please post what your dealer tells you....i've had mine in 2 times for puking, mainly the residue that is around the cap and every time they pressure check dealer says its fine....they called it typical for coolant to come out of cap...do you think it's worthwhile to make a gasket for this cap, would that help? maybe the plastic got hot enough to deform and now isnt sealing? i am not sure, i just know i'd like to resolve this.

Ok.. Leroy called me.. He did a pressure test and the cap blew out.. He replaced it and lowered the coolant and marked the degas for me so I know where it should be.. The EGR Cooler and such was fine.. But he said if it starts blowing out bring it in and he'll check some other things.. But his first indication on failure was the cap.. Which I could understand when I checked the cap for tightness it felt really wobbly like it wasn't sealing.. I'm pretty sure those caps should be somewhat tight when they seal up.. And not able to move it left/right (not twisting it)..

So I just had a couple rounds of puking this past week. I knew exactly when they occurred.

The first time I was lighting it up on the access road going on to the freeway onramp since a yahoo in a rice burner thought he could get ahead of me and cut me off. (He didn't... ), and the second time I was running it up full boost, having fun with my boss in his BMW X5 (had him until around a 100 and then the beamer rolled away..).

Both times after backing off, I smelled coolant almost immediately. Both times after I stopped and checked, there was coolant puked out of the degas bottle. I'd never had trouble before, but suddenly realized that a week earlier I'd been in to get my oil changed, and they did the "checked and topped all fluids" thing. I noticed that I don't have any TSB labeled marks for the lower MIN on the bottle, so the shop probably filled it higher that it should be.

Oil looks good, no signs of water/coolant. Just the splattered coolant all over the degas bottle and the stuff around it.

Anyone got a pic of the degas bottle with the TSB lower MIN mark on it?

tnx,
TX

I have an 03 also and it would only puke when pulling a long grade with a fifthwheel in tow. The water temp also would go up but not more than 3/4 gauge and would cool as soon as I got out of the throttle and of couse as soon as I started back down the hill or to level ground. Mine turned out to be the egr cooler. Hasn't happended since it was replaced.

Good luck with your issues I hope its not the Head gaskets.

May I recommend the ARP studs for those that are boosting over 30psi.

My heads are good.. It's the moisture.. My buddies 7.3 decided it wanted to boost 33lbs and he never gets over 28lbs..

Plus it only hits 35lbs if I'm really getting on it.. I don't need to get on it.. If I wanted to get on it I'd buy this 94 Supra for 56k I want SO BAD! lol
