Gas vs. Air shocks
For an F150, 2WD....what would be the reason one would use the gas shocks over the air shocks? Went to Autozone.com and it listed the two versions for both the front and rear suspension.

Not sure I understand your description. We usually describe air shocks as having a separate bladder which acts like an additional spring assist to prevent sagging when a vehicle is carrying a heavier load. But conventional shocks do have air (atmosphere) above their hydraulic fluid, while gas shocks have a pressurized inert gas.
There's more to it than just "gas", but gas shocks generally provide better control.
