Block heater shot?

Have these been known to wear out? mine was working fine up until a week ago, now it not working at all. The cord isin't frayed, and the plug is fine, (testing it before truck plug-in) and the electrical socket isi'nt popping its reset. Any ideas? Truck is a 95 PSD

Yes they do wear out. You should have a curcuit through the heater if it is good. Here's the part number: Block Heater w/o Cord (Ford) F4TZ-6A051-A. Several of the sponsors had them at good prices or try powerstrokeshop.com. I'm not sure if NAPA carries them or not.

bumper to bumper has them with a new cord for a good price. i just replaced mine this winter.

They are pretty reasonable at the dealership. 70.00 I think is what they get for the entire assembly with cord.

The block heater elements do go out, I have found it is more often the cord that goes bad. Short the prongs on the plug and then disconnect the cord from the heating element. Use an ohmmeter to ring out the cord. Good possibility it is open and can be fixed pretty easily.
