The washer doesn't work either. I replaced the 8.25fuse in the dash, still no workie. I got a new wiper motor, plugged it in... still nothing. Any ideas?
I read another thread where someone was having noise proplems and it was diagnosed as the WCM. Would the WCM just go out abruptly without making any wierd noises first? Would this also effect my washer? What is the WCM and what does it do, anyone?
Thanks in advance.
yo Mother,
The WCM controls both the wipers (aside from the stalk mtd lever switch and wiper motor internals) and the ws washer (aside from the lever sw and ws washer pump, of course);
Here is the WCM info:
"that is the wiper control module (wcm); remove glove box; disc battery..check the connector to wcm...get a WCM at a yard if the connector looks ok...i believe ford charges quite a few bucks for a new wcm .. about $70.00 and up
btw, wcm is to left of RABS box which is larger that the wcm
sometimes the printed ckt bd cracks; see if it can be repaired by soldering the components; there were recalls for the wcm's in dodges, ford crown vics/windstars, etc in 2000 and earlier years..
BTW, here is a suit against the Ford wcm mfgr by a whistle blower for 93's and up:

There is a long string in the 1987-1996 Ford truck message board, incl. info on cleaning the stalk ws wiper switch:
