Like I need another one....'71 F-100 4x4, 4-speed, probably a 360. Paid for it last night, picking it up this afternoon if I can get loose. It needs fresh gas, a tune-up, and a little work, but engine sounded pretty good and it drove okay.
I got a chance to look it over a little better, and drove it to a friend's house last night. Engine's a '65-model 352, air cleaner says 390 so guessing the original went bang. Don't know what tranny is in it, it doesn't seem like a granny-gear--first isn't low enough.
No pics yet, didn't have my camera with me. I'll grab some next time I'm out that way. The body is pretty straight, bed floor is rusty. It's been parked half-full of old wet shingles for a while. I got to unload them--fun, fun. I paid $500 for it, and it's about what I'd expect for a $500 truck. The only gauge that seems to work right is the gas gauge.
Xfer case just has 4WD and 2WD, no high-low. Shifter is either stuck in 4WD, or very stiff. Manual hubs. 4WD works. Decent matched set of 31X10.50s.
I think it'll work fine for a 4-wheeling rig. I don't really plan on trying to get it street-legal.
