I haven't seen an electric bill lower than $150 in many years.

I think a lot of the rates have to do with the area you're in. After all the hurricanes a few years ago, our rates went up, when the fuel prices went up last year, they got to add a fuel surcharge, now that fuel prices have gone up again, our power co. was authorized another 5% increase. I wonder why the rates don't go back down when the fuel prices drop.

Because, In the time it would take them to decide something that might have a positive impact. The fuel prices just climbed again. In this country it is always better in their pockets than ours. (Rant)

$11.47 last month, including all taxes (89kwh) Yes, the house is old (1950) and small (600 ft). One late-model fridge, TV, computer, air compressor and a few lights. The usage is much higher than last year (55kwh) because I have been using the air compressor and garage lights a lot more. Space heat, water heat and cooking is all gas.

Mind if I run an extension cord from your house to mine?

2000 sq ft Im on the northeastcoast in PA east of harrisburg average about $130 amonth. I have oil heat which has little effect on the electric bill. I assume you have electric heat. You may be better suited to ask what it cost to heat a home. That will provide you with completely different data. I have a fairy new Oil burner (installed in 03) on cold months (nighttime average of 0-10 degrees) (and oil priced as it is $2.90 a gallon) We spend somewhere in the neihborhood of $350 every 6 weeks.

AND YES I WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE TO LEAVE MY NEIGHBORHOOD ( or at least string OPEC and Oil Tycoon Demi-Gods by the 8@[[$!!!!!!!!!!

Heating bill is a whole different issue.$225-$300 a month during the winter and that's with a high efficiency gas furnace.

i'm in abt a 600 sq ft apartment lower floor with a balcony that has a big sliding glass door on it. i dont have a clue when it was built but electric is usually around 50 a month except when they don't read the meters, guestimate a low bill and then stick you with a double the next month and say no we read it, it was just that the avg mean temperature (she didn't know that's the same thing) was 20 degrees lower than the month before... i was like dude, i wasn't here hafl the month don't give me that crap... i got my meter number though and i'm reading it myself on the same day they do just to make sure they're not dicking around on it... stupid electric company...

i'm in tx too

3600+ sq. ft. 2 story colonial w/basement. House built in 1988.

We finally put in some 'decent' windows. The original windows didn't stop much air, at all. (Winter felt like at least two windows were open in the house.)
At least the oil furnace counteracted the drafts!

Electric bill is on the 'average monthly plan' and currently is running $319.00 per month.

Washington, DC area is an expensive place to live.

So is where I live.

Double checked on the "electric" part of my bill, and it averages $30.00 per month ($0.11430/Kwh) (1800 square feet; built in 1902 +/- a year or two.

Most of the lights have been changed to CFLs.
Electric dryer
2 gas furnaces, but powered by Pratt and Whitney turbine engines .
Actually a pair of standard electric motors.

Here's the ONLY way to compare.....cost per kilowatt hour. Mine here in Baltimore area (Baltimore Gas Electric) is $0.1088 per kilowatt hour. Multipy that number times the number of kilowatt hour of juice you used. (Look at your bill)
