Electric bill poll

Im curious if you guys could help me out. You don't have to answer, this is not a 'who has money' thread. Im in need of some benchmarks. I bought a house, of which i thought was EFFICIENT, since it is 12" concrete exterior walls and stone exterior, double paned windows, etc. My bill is....well...higher than i think it ought to be.

So, if you care to participate, im interested in the following

monthly bills (30 days worth or so)/house size (sq. ft.)/year built

I think those variables are the important ones for comparing.

I guess it would be useful to know im in Texas, so temps are mild.

Thanks guys!

1000 sq ft apartment, about 50-60 a month. to me a bit high since we hardly at all use heat or the air con. but myabe it is normal?

my last apartment was 610 square feet. it was 30 dollars a month when we were not home all month with nothing on except the refridgerator.

should be cheaper this summer, lots of shade trees around.

thanks to the current 10 year cap being lifted in Illinois and the Ameren cips now raping the consumer for every dime they can get,My electric and gas bill was $300 last month, twice what it normally would be. i live alone, was a warmer month last month, thermostat rarely goes above 65,and there were a couple weeks i didn't use any heat at all. not sure of the square footage of my house,it is a 3 bedroom.

1150 Sq Ft ranch with finished basement. Year built 1969
Average electric bill $250 a month.
Electric Stove and Dryer
2 large Refrigerators
1 Large upright Freezer
3 computers
2 Large fish tanks
6 Television sets
3 Adults, 5 Kids. Nothing ever goes off for long in this house! Except my wallet
According to the news and Power bill the rate is going up again real soon. 30% last year and another 8% this year, they wanted 20%. Our politicians should be shot for allowing the 8% this year.
