4wd won't engage. I took the motor off and looked at it. I didn't actually clean it, because it looked really good. I tore it apart and everything moved OK. Problem is that I am not getting any lights on the dash, and I am not getting a red light on the control module.....not even when I press the reset button.
My dad gave me the truck. He replaced the tranny about a year ago. He got the tranny from autozone or advance....not sure. There is a pig-tail that plugs into the side of the tranny on the drivers side. The one that is plugged in now is an oval shaped one. The other one is kinda square shaped. He's not sure which one was originally plugged in and do those wires HAVE ANYTHING to do with the 4wd system in the 1st place?
He replaced the switch in the dash but that didn't do anything. I didn't check the position (to make sure the motor didn't 'lose' home) to make sure it was OK.
I didn't check the voltages/resistance in the connectors that go into the control module (it's an Extended-Cab....module behind the seat) YET! I just got a DMM a few days ago.
Here's an excerpt of Ford TSB 92-1-8 which describes how to test the early '90s 4WD system electrical circuits. I've also attached the relevant wiring diagrams for your '94. HTH.
