I acquired a 1972 460 from a Lincoln Mark IV with only 23 000 miles on it and is going into a 1956 F100 .The inner fenders from the car and ignition module that was mounted on it was not there . Before i get into buying a after market ignition I am looking for a stock ford ignition Module to get this running. . My questions is what type can I use ?Is there any cross Ref from years to engine size that would work. .

the 1972 lincoln didnt have electronic ignition, it had points. if you want electronic ignition you have to get a different distributor and an ignition box. just go to napa (or equivalent local parts store) and ask for a distributor and ignition module for a 78 f150 with a 351m... same distributor
side note: the d2ve cylinder heads that are on that engine are awful, they have serious detonation problems. i know, i had a 72 lincoln. run premium and itll be ok... regular 87 octane and itll run crappy... try 85 octane and youre asking for problems. pretty sad when you have to run premium at 8-1 compression
if you want better performance pick up some c8ve, c9ve, or d0ve heads, and run premium... if you want better detonation resistance pick up some d3ves and you should have no issues running even 85 octane
