I have '76 motorhome/ E350 460ci it has a DuraSpark ignition system. I do believe that in 1976 it was a DuraSparkII. If I recall correctly it had a gray or was it green module and I installed the blue grommet. I am wanting to get a another to keep as back up.
Which is the preferred DuraSpark ignition module? And what is the difference in the color of the grommets mean?
I guess I'll give myself a bump here. I was hoping someone here might have a clue as to what the difference is in the DuraSpark ignition module grommet color ? Guess I'll try posting this question else where.
"Note The Duraspark box has a neat feature built in to it. It has an extra on-start retard wire that you can hook either to a switch, an rpm activation switch or to a boost retard switch, great for boosted carb setups or heavy compression setups"
Blue box – retards 4 degrees (most common)
White box – retards 14 degrees (very early 80′s carb 2.3t)
Yellow box – no retard (California box)
Orange box – retards 6 degrees (industrial box)

Thank you so much that was very help and the link was a good read.
Reps coming your way !!
As stated above, the BLUE grommet is the most common and is suitable for most applications. Other colors correspond to different altitude or emissions requirements, yet were often plagued with issues. Motorcraft is the only suitable brand. Do not waste time with the $50 or less generics.

Thanks for the heads up. As I was looking around I seen alot of no name brand ones and the one I was thinking about was a Standard Motor brand. So I guess I'll start over and search for a Motorcraft one.
