Hey guys i got a little out of hand today after work and did a burnout with my 1999 F350 4x4 PSD automatic duelly(installing new tires soon). I pushed the OD button so that OD wouldn't engage while doing the burnout and only did it for a few seconds and rolled out of it, soon after the burn out the OD light started to flash. I shut the truck off and restarted it and the light now remains off. Is there a stored code do you think? Do you think i did some possible damage to the trans?
One more thing this trans was replaced at 119K miles and now has 124K miles from ford dealer and they did replace the cooler and installed a inline trans filter.
thanks
Erik
has the same problem with my auto overdrive light was flashing come to find out the speeds sensor went out i think it is located by the rear axle put not sure
When I do a burnout, the truck gets confused on why the front tires are stopped and the rear tires are going 80, so i think thats the reason.
Dont worry about it, my truck pulls an O/D light everytime the rear tires are spinning faster than the fronts(burnouts, snow driftin, etc). Im going to try a new VSS maybe it wont but i havnt had a problem with it.

Makes sense, i just wanted to make sure i didnt do any damage. I will double check tommorow with my scan tool to see if there is a history code stored. I can't remember 100% but the burnout went thru 2nd gear, but it didnt make it into 3rd so iam sure the rear tires where going about 45-55mph..
Thanks
Erik
I replaced my VSS sensor last year.. OD was flashing.. from Napa P/N 530780 (they call it a ABS sensor) for $10.49 if you get it online at napaonline.com.. Fixed the problem..

Did you ever figure out what the problem was I have a 93 E350 7.3 first diesel I've owned and just fixed a bunch of stuff spun the tires pulling out of a parking lot and this happened trans totally disengaged from third after about 12 miles omw home just got truck running all the fluids looked good a little low but not past fill mark. Also there is a few fuel returns leaking a little. I bought the kit just gotta do the rest I did the one that was leaking bad there are 3 more barley seeping rn. Plz lmk asap gotta go for inspection in 3 days. Thank you!
There is a code stored to tell you why the OD light was flashing. You need that code to figure out what's wrong. Here is how to read the codes: www.troublecodes.net/ford
