Does anyone have a list of ALL the things that can cause the OD light to flash?
Doing a search as well but just after a rebuild my OD light is flashing. Odd part is that it will do it just by hitting the throttle.
I am letting it cool down and settle so I can try to reseat the sensors and recheck the fluid level.
if the OD light is flashing there is a code stored in the PCM..you need to have the codes pulled...there are quite a few things that could set the light...trans just being built would make it a big cluster ^%$#....get the code and start from there...
could be any thing from a short under the steering wheel colomn down through every part in the trans then out to the VSS on the rear end..cant help ya much with out the code...does the trans shift ok??
Just finished rebuild and is slipping worse than when I started. This is my first (and probably last) attempt at rebuilding an automatic. I simply don't have the cash to pay for service. It would be cheaper to buy a functioning POS car right now.
There are about 50 things that can cause the light to flash. We can eliminate some of them right away, like the codes for no 1-2, 2-3, or 3-4 shifts. Since it's doing it right away it isn't a shift issue.
It could be any of the four solenoids. It could be any of several sensors, like the turbine speed, output speed, manual lever position, throttle position, temperature sensor, and probably a few others that I can't think of at the moment.
Mark,
When I start the engine, it runs fine then I hear a subtle fluctuation in idle and the light starts flashing. This trans was just rebuilt and I am about 90% confident that there is nothing wrong mechanically with the rebuild. I have put about 4.5 gal of fluid into it and it appears slightly high (I really hate the stock dipstick on these).
I thought the trans position range sensor was the problem but everything seems to be OK there.
Re-thinking on this. Backed it out of the garage this morning and it feels like the park break is engaged. I may have to take it back apart but I think I will move it by trailer to the new house and wait until I have $for or find someone local who can pull codes.
Are talking about the Over Drive light on your shifter? I will tell you I had the same problem once when I was up in PA so I pulled her into the "stealership" to have her checked. They put her on the computer and read the codes and told me it was a low pressure fault in the tranny. I made it back to AL and got a complete rebuild . . . . .$1800 unlimited miles for a year and I have two months to go so we will see.
Talked a good freind into buying AE and loading it on my computer. I have to buy it from him over time and make it available to him if he has problems but it's a good deal considering.
Hope to have some answers early next week.
