A Good Afternoon

My son & I went fishing this afternoon. They were biting good.We brought home 36 big bream & 3 catfish. Not bad for a couple of hrs on the water. The bream are bedding in about a ft of water. You could see them chasing your cricket when you pulled it through the beds. My son & I enjoy catching bream on ultra light gear. Its lots of fun.

I used to love bream fishing! Where were you at? I didn't think bream spawned in late May/June.

It would take a big bass to hit the fish I brought home. We only kept bream that were as big as my hand. We probably caught 75 or 80 but only kept the big ones to eat.

We caught these on Herb Parsons. My son & I didn't expect to catch anything but we were wrong. I think it was because this cold front was coming in right before we went fishing. There were 3 boats on the lake & all 3 of us were catching bream. Just one of those lucky days I guess.

"Schlosse gescheit!"

(Stuff happens)

I hate cleaning small fish though - I'd rather clean a few big monsters. Like catfish.

I can clean bream fast. It doesn't take me long. My hardest fish cleaning was one day after I caught 145 catfish. That turned into work with 2 helpers. It did add up into onehuge fish fry & party. My fishing buddies had a band so we sold tickets for a musicshow with a fish meal included in the show. I miss my old days when I lived in Louisiana. We would throw a party for any reason. BTW Those bream sure tasted good. I'm still stuffed. I'll be eating leftovers for lunch today.

I bet they would, if the goldfish lived long enough in the cold water. Pansy a@# gold fish, I couldn't keep one alive for more than a week when I was younger. Had a lot of good toilet bowl funerals though.

I've only been the Herb Parsons once and didn't do to good. I was of the opinion that it was fished out.

Herb Parsons is restocked on a regular basis. Its better fishing is during the week. On the weekends there are too many people there for the little lake. Herb Parsons is very low right now. Its probably 6 ft below its normal level. Its a close place for me to fish so I go there a good bit during the week after work. I like the bigger lakes when I have time.
