4x4 mirrors?

Have a 60 4x4 and I need to put outside mirrors on. Does anyone know what factory side view mirror options were available other than the round small chome mirrors.

There were rather large boxy mirrors. Check out my gallery and you will see them on my '59. They are factory as well.

The mirrors the member has a pic of in his gallery came three ways. Chrome base and head, painted white base and head, painted silver base and head. These mirrors were used from 1957 thru 1966 on F Series trucks. B8TZ-17696-A-(painted). While the base was different, Econolines from 1961 thru 1967 used the same square or rectangular mirror heads, and also offered round heads. The heads could be bought separately: B7CZ-17723-B 5x5 (painted), C1UZ-17723-A (rnd~ptd), C2UZ-17723-C (rnd~chrome),

There were no standard mirrors used then, because outside mirrors were optional (till 1/1/1966). The mirrors most seen on pickups of this era are the round chromed headed ones. The bracket fits into the door in the slot provided, and attaches with two bolts. When no mirrors were specified, a rectangular rubber plug covered the slots. C1TZ-17696-E ~ Chrome.

In addition there were several types of "Western" mirrors available. This type mounts above the vent window and to the door with the mirror mounted in the center. There were two types, regular and telescopic. C0TZ-17696-A (ptd), C6TZ-17696-A (chrome).

I added the mirror & mirror head part numbers to above post.

The yard where the bumper is, has nos mirrors for 1958/60's laying around upstairs.
I'm ready to go whenever you are.

You might check your local truckstop. One of our fellow members, bobj49f2, recently fabricated some great mirrors for one of his trucks using chrome stems that he found at a truckstop.

do a search for mirros to find the thread, or look up his gallery

Here are the mirrors Bobby mentioned:

I made it up using parts from two manufacturers:

The mirror is a 5" X 7" K Source rectanglar mirror I bought at the local farm supply store for about $7 each. The are is a 10"-15" adjustable stainless steel mirror arms, made by barjan at a truck stop down the road from my house for $16. You can get a 15"-20" arm for $18.

I like it because it gives a lot of surface area but still looks vintage. Both parts are made of stainless steel so maintenance is kept to a minimum.
