That wouls sound about like an exhaust leak if it wasn't as loud when warmed up. The metal expands and seals up holes in the exhaust. Thats why when theres a crack in the exhaust manifold it'll quiet up when its warm. Also a cracked manifold would sound almost diesely since itd more than likely be only one cylinder pushing exhaust past it and not all 4 or 6. Forgot your engine size. lol
Ok ,
So you guys pretty much think is somewhere on the exhaust, and you right the sound it's louder when cold, I can't hear it much inside the car but it's there if you open your ears!
Do you guys know any other way to find a leak on the exhaust line when you can't see it? I've been thinking that maybe the leaking is under the cat's heat shield?
The only way to track down an exhaust leak is to crawl under and feel for it. Either by tough or sound/vibrations. If you slowly run your hand around the cats and whatnot you should feel air getting pushed out. If you can get ahold of an Infrared Thermometer get temps from b4 the cat and after the cat. If there's any more or less than 100* F then you've got cat probs. If more than 100* F its clogged or melted down inside. If less than 100* then its probly melted down on the inside.

I doubt it!
The truck passed the smog three weeks ago, a melted cat would fail.
try using an open hose with a metal tube on the end. the rubber end in your ear and the metal tube around and real close to the exhaust component. youll hear the puffs through the open tube
