TX2 winch wiring
TX2 winch wiring
I was given a TX2 winch and was told it worked. In the configuration it was given to me, I can't figure the wiring. It has 2 positive leads and 2 negative leads and the wires from the controler box have been cut. I have a nice Ramsey on my truck. Looking to put the TX2 on my car hauler. Anyone with wiring information would be appreciated. Thanks...Moe
I don't know if I went down a rabbit trail or not, but I found out your winch may have been made by a company called Tensen. And apparently now they are called Megawinch. I found a link here.

Do a little bit of tracing on your wires. Are they all large and all 4 go to the motor? If so, from the description I read, they use a series wound motor. If this is true on yours, you should be able to take a ohmmeter, and get continuity between 2 of the wires, and continuity on the other two. If this checks out, then mark these wires as pairs. Take one wire each from a pair, and bolt them together. Then take the remaining two wires and hook them to a battery and see if it will run.
If all this checks out, then write back in and we will have to figure out some relays and stuff to make it go forward and reverse.

I have a Tensen TX2 winch. If you are still trying to wire your winch I can provide pictures of my winch. My early Bronco has hook ups for winch mounts at the front and rear so it is a slide mount application and pics can be taken from any angle.

Hello all, I have one of these old tx2's but I do not have the remote (4 pin) for it, does any one here know the wiring specs so that I can build one myself.
Details
Tenson Model 120

I have searched the internet and it almost like they don't exist.
Thanks
Joe

Does it have the large 4 wires and can you make it work like I described above in the previous post?
Sorry for the delayed reply....yes it is the large 4 post connector. And I must be blind lol because I did not see the post about wiring it up.
Thanks for the reply and I will look for your instructs....up the line....
