The A/C compressor died on my 1989 F-150 last night. It obviously has the 300 six in it. I know an 88 compressor does not fit (lines are different), but what compressors or years would fit. Second, might anyone have one that they would sell?
Sorry for not going thru all the posts if this question was resolved. Maybe someone will look for the answer in a newer post.
This last month the mechanic shop trying to replace my 1989 300 A/C Compressor got three different ones from Ford that did not fit. He went to another supplier and they spoke on the phone (just like with Ford three times) until the supplier said he had the same one Ford did. The Mechanic asked him to check the Compressor for a 1990, to see if the mounting bolt holes were the same size as the 1989 units. "Bingo!" The 1990 mounting holes were larger, the same as the mounting holes for my '89 was. The data plate puts the mfg. date as 11/89 on my '89. So apparently the factory was out of the '89 compressors and started using the '90 units. Thorny problem solved. Sorry for the quick visit, been too busy to even know what needs done next this year. :-) (P.S., the 38-gal fuel tank sure takes the "gotta keep track of my fuel level" nervousness out of an outback trek.)
