So confused, which AC compressor fits?
1988 E150 W/302
I am trying to find out which compressor to buy to replace my factory installed one. After searching compressors and numbers for several hours, I am even more confused. I think there are at least 3 different compressors used on a 88 e150.
I bought a new Motorcraft YC-53 from RA but when I called them to verify, they told me it would not fit my 88 e150.. I did not cancel the order because It was the only new Motorcraft compressor I could find on their site.
SO I started searching different sites. Some say it will fit some say it wont. Some say it fits a 7.5 engine only, while others say it fits any e150 engine.
I did find this re-manufactured one on ebay that has the same casting numbers as my compressor, (mine is a reman). but it doesn't say what it fits.

Anybody have any ideas?
When I lookup a 1989 at RA I get
MOTORCRAFT YCC103RM {#F1OY19V703AARM, RMF8FH19D629APA} Reman; With Clutch Before 1/10/89; Factory Installed
(It is a completely different compressor from mine)
1989 FORD E-150 5.0L 302cid V8 A/C Compressor | RockAuto
If I look up a 1988 at RA I get
MOTORCRAFT YCC119RM {#E8dz19V703NARM, RM1U2J19D629NA} Reman; With Clutch, factory installed
(this one looks like mine)
1988 FORD E-150 5.0L 302cid V8 A/C Compressor | RockAuto
When i look up 1987 (my van was built at the end of 87)
MOTORCRAFT YCC118RM {#E6DZ19V703MARM, RM1U2J19D629MA} Reman; With Clutch, factory installed
1987 FORD E-350 4.9L 300cid L6 A/C Compressor | RockAuto
Then there is the Four seasons new compressor that RA says fits 87, 88, and 89! It looks exactly like all the others listed above.
FOUR SEASONS 58110 w/ Clutch; Ford E6DH Compressor
w/ E6DH Compressor; Factory Air (A/C installed at time of manufacture); Type 2
The casting numbers on mine start with E6DH

Thanks Jim.. Yes that looks just like my compressor...
RA had a couple of new Motorcraft compressors for the 88 earlier last week. When I looked Friday night, they were gone.
Some time back when I wanted to change the clutch on my current compressor, I learned there must be at least two different ones.. The one I got from AZ did not fit my compressor. I could not get the snap ring on the front once the pulley was on, it was just a hair too thick and covered part of the snap ring groove. After doing research I learned there are two different bearings. the only difference is the thickness. That means I am going to have fun finding the right clutch pulley...
My compressor has E6DH as part of the casting number..
I guess once I get the compressor I cold order both pulleys and send the one back that doesn't fit..
RA catalog says this one would be the correct clutch/pulley

maybe some good news, I came across a bronco site that lists in detail all the compressors for broncos, but for a 5.8 engine. The YC-53 was only used on 1988
1988 New Compr ........................ — YC-53 — YB-317A YB-523 YB-357A
Remfd.Compr ..................... YCC-119RM — YBR-107RM — — —
RA lists the YCC-119rm for 1988 e150 with either 5.0 or 5.8...
Hopefully the compressor is correct and the clutch will be my only problem to match..
