ok.........so thats a given. How much of a Dell computer is actually made by Dell? heh only the Case and Monitor....even keyboard and mouse but all the internals are sourced out, more than 80%. I am not getting into this pointless argument.

Discussing Dell computers in this thread is pointless. Pointing out that Ford is more deeply involved in the success or failure of Powerstroke engines than many seem to believe isn't.
Well if ford was not involved in the sucess of the "Powerstroke" then it wouldnt be called one. I dont know but I think ford did a good job on the 6.4, only time will tell. Either way all these new emissions laws are gonna cause the majority of the problems considdering all the new equipment they had to develop to achieve happyness with the EPA officials. I will stick with my '02 for a couple more years and get the most out of it before I decide I want to chance it with a brandnew concept.
Well I feel I did the right thing. The truck I ordered came in and I had to check it out. Wife and I took it for a drive and we had to keep it. It is "awesome". Even better than we expected. I still have some concerns about the new EPA set up but time will tell. The truck is an F350, 6.4 PSD, 4X2, Short Bed, Lariat, Pueblo Gold with the Tan interior. Thanks everybody for the feedback. It did help me make my decision. The V10 would have done the job but 6.4 was the way to go.
I had the same concern with respect to taking the 08 Super Duty. The flames were actually ignited by the new particulate filter located in the tailpipe. When this filter begins to fill up with particulate matter, it heats up to 1000 degrees to burn off and clean the filter. All diesels will be required to meet this new emission standard for 2008. GM and Dodge may have similar issues next year. As you might have guessed, if oil & gas are present in the tailpipe when the new filter is cleaning itself, combustion is likely. The flame thrower was a Dallas vehicle that Ford actually bought back from the weary customer. The problem was actually a leaky fuel injector. Before I took delivery I did two things; I had the dealership perform a service check on the engine to ensure the proper functioning of the injectors & filter. The other thing I did was as a condition of sale, the Dealership agreed to provide a loaner vehicle (F150/250) if I began to encounter any problems associated with the injectors or the new particulate filter. I have no reservations with respect to taking delivery of the 2008 Super Duty which islight years beyond the 2005 Super Duty that I traded.

Jim, I think you made the right decision too. We waited for the dust to settle on the early production issues and are placing an order for the new 6.4 next week. Tania and I (full time RVers) had the pleasure to drive a 2008 F-450 Pickup about 4 weeks ago and was amazed at what a great machine it was. Darned if it wasn't gone from the dealers lot in 5 days with a $60 MSRP!
