Preventive maintenance

My X has PSD and 80,000 miles. I've done all the normal stuff I can think of oil, tranny, transfercase, rears, air filter and I'm going to bleed the brakes and get new fuild thru the hole system. Anything else you guys can think of I should do?

I see that you already checked the diffs. That is good. The owners manual says to check if submerced in water or if you suspect a leak. I never checked my diffs in my X cause neither of those applied to me. Never saw evidence of a leak or been in water. I ran my diff. out of oil. Had to replace the carriers and pinion bearings (under extended warrenty thank god $1100).

Yep, I already changed the fuel filter. I didn't think about ps fluid. I never changed that in any other truck. Is there a way to drain it? Yep I'll change the PVC valve. I don't have plugs or wires it's a diesel. Were would a cabin air filter be or how do I know if I have one? I'm assuming it would be in heat/ac ducting somewere.?

At 165K miles had the ps fluid changed to synthetic, at which time the pump was replaced due to a lot of whinning. With a new pump and synthetic fluid it's as good as new.

Excursion don't have cabin air filters.

There is a how-to on changing the PS fluidin the Super Duty forum somehwere. It is fairly easy. I cannot remember if there is a drain on the box or you just pull a line from the cooler. Refill; then turn the wheel back and forth to "bleed" the system of air.

I would wait on the breaks if you can. Goodridge is thinking of making SS braided hose for the F250 and excursions.

I have used Goodridge on my MB and it works well. More positive feel on the pedal and less travel

Looky Here. We can get them except they are going to be a little long. Maybe we can either wait for the right length to come out or we can use these and coil them up somehow.

017.3 what was meant by plugs was your glow plugs. Hard winters or early starts can put a beating on your plugs.
