Smog delete kits?
The ONLY thing that has to be in hooked up regarding emissions equipment is the egr valve position sensor. If the valve is removed, there must be a resistor installed so that the computor knows that no egr is flowing. Other than that, you can do what ever you want and drivability/dependability will not be affected. This is the case for anything with an EEC-IV...so we are talking up through 1995.
Please explain the fault in my logic. I have trouble with your statment about the EGR system being the only thing the computer looks at, but maybe I might learn something new. Perhaps we need to define smog control equipement?

Air pump system (thermactor)
cats
EGR system
PCV
The ONLY part that is related to any of these systems/components that the computor needs input from to run the engine is the EGR valve postition sensor. That can be easily simulated via a resistor...that resistor readily available. Everything else can be removed and the computor/motor will not care one bit...well, if the PCV is removed you would want to set up some sort of vacuum to the crankcase (wind draft tube, exhaust driven vacuum etc.)...but with the exception of the EGR position input to the computor and some form of vacuum to the crankcase it can all go.
What do you suspect would be bad to remove from a drivability standoint?
