Are you a BEEKEEPER?

HI Everyone, Just wanted to see if there are any Beekeepers out there. Myself, I am a Hobby Beekeeper, I have 2 Hives or colonys of bees, 2 supers high full of hard working girls. it is time to Requeen and last year I had no luck at this,
My bees are of the Africanized strain and sometimes a little testy. When I crack open a hive I most times do it at night and I use a lot of smoke ( dont worry I share with the Bees) I also make some extra money Removing swarms and colonys My son and I Extracted about 50.lbs of pure Golden Honey last Fall.
WE keeb are bees in the back yard I plan to do my first split this spring we'll see how that goes, The trees are Blooming out right now. Looks to be a Good Year Please wright back if you have any bee storys. Thanks Bill W

there was something on the news this morning about a possible shortage of bees being able to pollinate enough stuff for us humans, where as according to a bee expert 4 billion people could die due to not having an adequate amount of bees throughout the world.?????
you seem to know a little about them so what would happen lets say there was a bee plague how would that directly affect us humans????????????

I do know a little about bees, But just a little. My Grandfather was a part time beekeeper 150 hives part time ha . Yes there is a bee shortage, People Kill the swarms when they are found and colonys They dont have enuf sence to look for a Beekeeper to remove them alive, I have done that many times BUT with only about 10 % survival rate But i am kinda new at this Only 3rd year You can do all the work of booking combs transfering bees into boxes etc and they will abscond on you a week later bees polanate 70% of what we eat and a queen bee can lay 3000 eggs a day they can grow a colony fast in the spring but numbers decline in winter. Dont know where to stop,

I hate spiders, wasps, hornets...they all get smashed.
However, I do like your average garden bee. I have a swimming pool and whenever I see a bee floundering in the water, I'll scoop it out and place it on the dry ground to give it a chance.

A garden bee is the busy little guy you'll spot on your wifes flowers and my dandelions. They don't buzz around your beer all day like yellowjackets, or make nuisance nests under the eaves of your house like them rotten little wasps/hornets.

we have about 10 colonies of Italian 3 banded honey bees. they're rite dosal and don't get pissed very easy. our biggest problem in this part of the country is traichia mites they'll wipe out a colony of bees in no time. our "honey flow" is just really getting started around here.
