I am unable to remove the front (Engine side) fuel line from my 2003 Sport Trac. I have the fuel/AC line removal tools (the plastic kit) but cant get the front line to release. Is there a special tool for this like is mentioned elswhere on this site?
Just keep working at the filter. It's not moving because of a little bit of crud that's built up on the tube. Some come off easy and others don't. You will get it off, just be patient. Try spraying a bit of WD or other penetration oil in/around that trouble fitting, it might help soften up some of the crud.
As for plugs, I'm surprised no one mentioned this. DO NOT USE Bosch Platinums. You will have trouble with missing and poor overall running of the engine with them. I know I sure did.
Bought yet another tool at Auto Zone. They had never heard of the tool that is shaped like a pair of pliers. I have seen that one in catalogs. Took the tool back because after persistant tries with it, even though it was specific to Ford, would not work. I got it off using my fuel disconnect set that I started with. Will be a while before I change this one again....
I've resorted to having the dealer do the fuel filter when I happen to have the truck there for something else. My front clip started giving me trouble at about 80K miles and never got better.

i see that type hanging at AAP everytime I go...someday I'll get one.
Change the plugs and the filter, it's cheap insurance and you should notice a differance in power. I would recommend you use the Ford plugs as they seem to last longer then the other brands.
