i have an 05 f250 PSD and i have noticed that under light to medium acceleration the transmission will buck or surge, if you will! it mostly happens between 3-4 and occasionally between 2-3. When it happens the rpma will jump up before the gear change is complete. when pulling a trailer this can be a very violent and harsh gear change with the truck upshifting and then downshifting immediately. i have to let off the throttle for a sec then get back into it! any ideas on whats going on, anyone else experience these problems?
Id almost bet MONEY its not the trans.. My MONEY is on EGR valve.. Go get the codes pulled.. My guess is PO404 Po405.. When Mine first started pulling that mess I thought the same thing.. But it ended up being EGR... Im fighting that problem AGAIN.. I really need to study up on what it would take to make a no CEL dummy egr..
i only have 28k miles, should the EGR be giving problems this soon? Is there a website i can check those TSB's at?
Oh yes.. I bought my truck in January.. Had 26,700 mi... It had the same problems when I took it for the weekend.. When I signed the papers I had them fix it.. Was a bad EGR, needed cleanign.. Those coke up real quick..
ok after countless time reading through EGR this and EGR that, i have come the the conclusion that for all pratical purpose it is better to just disconnect the EGR. I am pretty sure by doing this I am going to get a CEL! I also understand that a tuner can be tuned to just add a "EGR delete" if you will to the computer so you get no CEL.
I havent read anywhere of other people having the same problem i am having with the rpm's flaring between gear changes.
please correct me if I am wrong or if i need to go back re-read the information.
My 03 6.0 Is In The Shop For That Exact Tranny Issue Havent Heard From My Dealer Yet, But Some People Here Think Its A Pressure Problem Aka. Pressure Selinoids. I Will Post My Results As Soon As I Get Them, Also Are You Having Any Hesitation When Putting It In Reverse Or Drive Or Hard Ingauging I Also Have This Problem As Well. Good Luck Let You Know Soon.

Do you have stock tire size?
R U running a tuner?
Son-in-laws dad was telling about a similiar problem he had that was resolved by getting tire size corrected in ECM.
I have also heard of 'flare' between shifts with some tuners but this was at full throttle.
the truck is 100% stock no tuner and still the factory tires!
ZMAN, I havent had any problems with it going in gear only the "flaring" between 2-3 and sometimes 3-4. please let me know what the stealer finds out about your truck it will kinda give me a starting point, for the mean time I am going to clean the EGR and see if that helps. thanks to all for the concern and for the advice!
i have the same problem with mine it histates a little before engaging into gear and under hard excelleration it hesitates ALOT sometimes under full throtel it goes as far as completely missing the gear it seems like. sound like the egr needs clean? my truck is also completely stock except for 5inch exhaust. someone give me a link to the cleanin procedures? thanks alot
Not Good News The Snap Ring Is Letting Loose And There Is Metel Shavings In The Pan, Its Ready To Leave Me Stranded Somewhere, So Its Rebuild Time About $1,500-2000 Parts And Labor, The Issue With Hesitation Was That The Selinoids Act Like Magnets And Pick Up The Metal. Hope You Have Better Luck If Your Trans Is Still Under Warranty Dont Wait. Also After Reflash Truck Wouldnt Start Right Chugging Smoke And Wouldnt Turn Over For A Long Time Mechanic Said Some Injectors Taking A Crap Will Fix Under Warranty After Trans Fixed. I Miss My Baby Already. Z-man
