I am wondering if the ford dealer will cover it under the ford 10 year or 100,000 mile warranty on the motor. You should call to ford to see if this is covered under the motor warranty. At the most you would just pay the one time I beleive 100.00 deductible.
Where did you get a 10 year warranty? Mine was only good for 5 years.
Edit Never mind I see you answered this, I'm on a very slow cell phone connection for the next 2 weeks, and it's driving me crazy!

I was faced with a similar situation two weeks after I bought my truck as well. A pinhole leak from a rusty oil pan.
What I did was to completly drain the oil pan and then clean the bottom of the pan with brake clean. Get it oil free.
Go to NAPA, get a fuel tank repair kit for a metal gas tank part number 7651565 or BK 7651565. Follow the instructions as you would for patching a fuel tank on the bottom of your oil pan. Link to NAPA
I did that two years ago for my truck and it's still dry on the bottom of the pan.
Once you are sure that it's fixed, sand and paint the entire rest of the oil pan with a rust treatment like POR-15.
If it were my pan...This is the way I would repair the leak...Like Kwik has done.
I have used the fuel tank repair products. When these products set up they are nearly hard as steel.
Also can purchase this stuff at O'Reilly and some Walmarts

Ditto, Kwikk knows his stuff, and I have used it many times (not on my oil pan though). Really good stuff.
I figured it has to come out....oh well, "upside down to apply sealant"? Hope your kidding...I have sealed a lot of engine parts, NEVER had to turn anything upside down.
The sealer sticks to an inverted surface. Thanks for your replies
I just went through it, the shop tried it with out turning the engine over, the new pan leaked at the sealant and had to be pulled again. This time the engine was turned over and sealed with no problems, needles to say i didn't pay for the 2nd Re & Re.
I came across this site in Feb and one of the first things I read was about the oil pans and the rear diff covers rusting out. I went out and checked mine and the cover and the pan were in bad shape.
I took into the dealer (where I bought the truck new) and they replaced the pan, cover, and the oil dip stick tube(that I didn't ask about) for the $50.00 extended warranty(which runs out on time on May 2nd) I bought when I purchase the truck. So I want to say thanks to all who contributes to this site because you saved me a lot of money and grief from the better half I might add.
Even though I live in Illinois I really don't drive it that much in snowy weather so road salt wasn't the big problem with the rust.
