Have not received product!

First off, I apologize if this is the wrong forum, but I wasn't sure. Anyway, I purchased an edge tuner through the classified ads section in early February. Well, I thought I did. I sent a money order and it didn't get cashed for over a month. He finally says he got it, and says he sent the tuner, but I haven't got it and he has not given me a tracking number. It's been over two weeks since he said he sent it and still no tuner. What are my options? I have all of the e-mails and receipts to prove I sent the money order, etc. I appreciate any advice.

Contact the post office if you used a postal money order. FTE has no responsibility for classified advertisers.

Never send a money order. PayPal or CC, nothing else. What state is the seller in?

I understand FTE has no responsibility. Just wanted to know if anyone knew of a number I could call or something to push the matter legally. The seller is in FL.

Mail fraud has serious teeth. That is why I always use a postal money order. Paypal is a joke and fraudulent in itself. A CC used to be good but not any more. Congress eliminated any effective help with legislation to protect the banks.

Read the fine print; fund availability, dispute timeline, etc then compare it to what they advertise...

PayPal has a track record of freezing a seller's account without any real evidence of wrongdoing. A buyer can submit a claim for just about anything and without any warning, PayPal freezes the seller's account. Then the entire burden of proof falls on the seller for them to prove who they say they are, that they shipped the items, etc., etc. On the flipside, when a buyer really does get screwed, PayPal doesn't offer much protection and doesn't do much to recover a buyer's money after a scammer has cut and run.

Don't even get me started about their fees. I almost refuse to accept PayPal if I'm selling something over a couple hundred bucks because 1) what I mentioned above and 2) pretty much any monies you collected for shipping get sucked away in fees.

Fact is, buying anything over the internet, outside of a large, recognized vendor, can be risky. Basically its up to the individual to limit their exposure by recognizing obvious scams and paying or shipping in such a way that protects you financially.

Ask someone in the FL chapter to drive by and see if you are actually dealing with a business or a house.
