3.0 6cyl, 120,000 mi, 5spd, 4x4. Engine runs fine and all is well to my knowledge. However, the throttle seems to stick after i run it above 2k rpm for a while. Also, if i try to bring it down by putting it in gear the idle just goes up on its own after i press the clutch. Other than that it just idles high, which i have tried to fix. I cleaned the MAF, replaced the IAC, and checked the vacuum hoses for the most part, there is a vacuum. I am not sure what to do next. Any ideas?? Thanks, John
A buddy of mine's camaro did the exact same thing before he sold it. I never could figure out to the best of his limited knowledge what caused it. He never was one for maintenance either so I firugred in his case something simple is what caused it. Tho his O2 censors always threw him a fit. When was the last time you did a thurough tune up on your truck? I see you did clean the MAF and replace the IAC. What did you use to clean the MAF? BTW what year is your truck?
Also, have you verified the fact that your butterfly is 100% closed at idle? Try starting the engine and removing the intake tube from the throttle body to check it out. Just be careful of that fan!
my pedel was just easier to press and didnt return to idle correctly, went underhood and reved it on the engine and noticed it had nothing pulling it back
It is a 97, sorry about that. Also, i cleaned the MAF with carb cleaner, like the tech post says to. I will have to check out the throttle springs and try to clean that out. Thanks
