I am wandering if anyone has any experience with the tornado system. I was thinking of getting one for my 1996 F150 with a 351W. I also have a K&N air charger filter and I dont know if the tornado would work with this either.
Any feedback appriciated,
thanks Shane
I use the K&N religiously.....every vehicle.......just makes sense to me to have better air flow and a filter that is oiled to keep out even more dust and dirt. I've not seen anything yet to convince me that the tornado is any good. Even though many parts houses are selling them now too. I don't know anyone using a tornado......but I know lots of people using K&N.............I'm happy.........Hell....I can't afford EVERY new gadget anyway..lol
Just my opinion
Good Luck and if you try it.....let us know how it does
the tornado swirls the air fuel mixture, ensuring it gets a proper mix and atomization in the intake before it enters the engine through the valves.
this swirling effect will ensure better combustion, and increase your fuel mileage up to 500%.
this increase alone will pay for itself in no time.
oh, wait a minute. i forgot. the engine is fuel injected.
so the swirling air and the fuel never meet.
so the swirling will only make the sellers wallet thicker, and your wallet lighter.
Also, as far as K&N filters go here is what I saw found today searching Google. Yes they do improve flow, just like they say. Well, if you improve air flow it is not filtering as well. There are some reports of at least some vehicles reporting issues with their MAF sensor and O2 sensors getting dirty and needing to be cleaned or replaced after a period of time because their Check Engine Light.
I am not saying do or don't use them. You just need to be aware of the full story. Personally, I don't think it is worth harming the systems in the vehicle to maybe get 10 or 20 hp or maybe some MPG improvement. I have seen too many that reported they did not get any improvement of hp or MPG.
It just makes sense that to get more air flow you have to give up some of the filtering. Do some research and make your decision.
A K&N filter will only do that if its not taken care of properly.
Its an OIL filter so, you have to oil it when you clean it.
You can never rule out peoples stupidity as a cause for their problems.
Next time you get a chance, take a closer look at the design of a K&N and compare it to a regular paper filter.
I'm supprized air passes though them at all. Its just really dense felt. K&N are more cloth based, and washable.
You just spray on oil, or use an oil pack. I baught a can, so much easier.
The oil will collect dirt much easier and still allow air flow.
not true buy K&Ns own engineers tests it will pass at least 1% more dirt than a standard paper filter and that is a new filter prepared buy K&N. each time you clean it and reuse it it will flow less air and pass more dirt. for the money you spend on one of those you can buy a lot of paper ones.
My experience w/ K&N has been generally positive. 10-20 HP gain is nothing to sneeze at, although I don't know of any claims of that much increase. Certainly not in my case.
Regarding the tornado scam, it's the main reason I won't watch "Two Guys Garage". Sam Memmolo has lost all credibility for selling out to such hocus pocus junk.
