Air Horn Compressor Mounting
Was wondering where those of you with diesels, since the gassers mount them where our 2nd battery is, are mounting the compressor's for air horn systems and where you are mounting the tanks. I have a 200psi system with a 3 gal tank and am looking for pics and advice where to mount this stuff.
I once did a firestone air bag kit and I couldn't find any place I wanted to put a compressor under a diesel hood. On that truck we pulled the tray out from behind the back seat and riv-nutted it the floor.
On my gasser, I found a nice spot for a small tank. My battery box is on the front side of the right fender and there is a decent sized hole there. You might try looking there, but I wouldn't mount the compressor that close to the front.

You mounted the compressor INSIDE the cab?? That's gotta be a surprise when that thing fires up...how do you stand the noise of it running? I too much of a sissy for that, this truck is more quiet than my Crown Vic!
The compressor we used wasn't that noisey and was rated high enough it didn't need to run more than a couple seconds for the air bags.
Where ever you put it, it needs to be in a dry and as clean as possible spot.

If you run the compressor off a relay the switch would be fine. I have mine hooked up with an 80 amp relay so it has heavy wiring direct from the battery.
The horn air valve should be a very low amp draw so that would be fine.
