Figured the title would catch some eyes, 97 f250 4x4 w/5.4 LD, 3" rancho lift and 35" mudders, the front end squeaks so bad i just hate drivin the damn thing. I've sprayed wd-40, pb blaster, silicone on everything that looks like it would possibly move in the next 10 years and the s.o.b. still sounds like crap, i have true duals and i canstill hear it over them. someone tell me what to replace, look at, lube, something has to give here fellas im on my last tick before i get rid of it
Time to bust out the grease gun and lube your front end. Hit your ball joints, tie-rod ends, and steering linkage. Try tightening everything down as well.
wd-40, pb blaster, and silicone won't cut it as a lube for anything other than hinges
I usually use blue wheel bearing grease on everything including poly, though, if you have poly bushings you might have to use graphite lube instead. SInce I have never had a squeak that bad and considering the lift and tires and how loud I would look at the shocks and see if the noise is coming from there.
Look for a bent/cocked shaft on the shock to start out. It can make the squeaking sound while going in and out while hitting bumps.
not sure because i bought it with the lift on it already and it squeaked then but its grown on me and now i want it gone, aint had time to do much, my 5 mo. old future off roader keeps me busy but i appreciate all the feedback and i'll post my results
My 79 250 would creak and moan on every pot hole too. I figured out that it was the leafsprings. I took both of the front springs out one day, drilled each leaf, and install plastic discs on each spring end, wholla no more squeaking.
For a quick fix before I put the discs in I would pound a prybar in betwen the leaves to separate them and use whatever lube I had handy to squirt on each leaf end. That would work for about two weeks.
