Thinking about buying one of those Procomp HEI dizzy's off Ebay and was wondering if anyone has one and what they think of them? <!--IBF.ATTACHMENT_52502-->
i just bought one for my 400. i hope its ok. 111.50 gets it to my door. it should arrive on monday. the ebay feedback on them was excellent from the company i bought mine from.
I know one guy that had the shaft break above the cam gear.
I probably know another 30-40 guys that run the procomp hard off-road and they work fine for them.
Mallory has a gm style one for around 50 bucks more than the procomp. Try contacting Atlantic Speed on ebay. They seem to have the best prices and very good customer service. I've been running the mallory for a few years with no issues.
1) Custom curved on a distributor machine based on your engine specs.
2) Not a cheap overseas import.
3) We have excellent tech support-each Distributor is issued an individual I.D. Number, so that if you change cams, pistons, etc., or want to put the DUI distributor in another motor in the future, you can call us with your ID number, have us pull your file, and then discuss whether or not you need to change your advance curve.
4) You talk to one of our employees-in Memphis, TN-not someone in another country. We are a family business that believes in the performance and racing industry.
i bought a pro comp and it seem to work fine but if you can save up some $$ go with the DUI...the reason is they will help you out more than you think
my cousin has one in a dirt track car and he blew up the engine(4 seasons on a rotating assembly)...the shaft on the distributor was bent and they fixed it for free with no problems at all.
By the way, each unit is hand assembled, lubed appropriately, tolerances are checked, such as between the shaft and gear, and even the space between the teeth on the magnetic pickup and the shaft's reluctor teeth.
