The other day while driving, I noticed that I get this whistling/buzzing noise coming from my firewall of my '96 Bronco when I hit about 40 mph. It is definately caused by air coming in somewhere, but I have no clue where. It sounds kind of like a kazoo!!! Anyone have any suggestions what could be causing this, or what to look for?
Nope. I'm thinking something may have came loose, or off, and now air is just blowing through whatever it is to make the noise. I just can't figure out what or exactly where it is, since it only occurs above 40 mph.
Are you sure it's air? I'm really not that familiar with the '96's, so I'm not even sure if they still used a speedometer cable (versus, say, some sort of electronic pickup and wire), but if they did, could this be a possibility? My '85, and a number of '80's pickups I've seen, all get a sort of buzz or whistle behind the dash, in the firewall area, when the speedo cables get dry and need to be re-lubed. May not apply to yours; just a thought.
