Well, after storing the beast all winter, I brought it back to life...started raining and I turned the wipers on, nothing, you can watch the ammeter go down a little on lo and it goes even more down on hi but the windshield wipers don't even twitch...any ideas?
Blades stuck to the windshield? Wiper posts corroded and stuck? Can you move the wiper blades any at all by hand?(don't force them, just see if they'll move) Turn the wipers on and give the arms a litlle help, maybe just need a little help to get started.
I've had the motor section fail due to the permanent magnets (feild magnets) coming disbonded from the motor body due to corrossion. Remove clean up and reglue magnet's with expoy.
I will have to remove that cowl or windshield wiper motor cover thing with the slots in it and whip out the WD40 and see if that helps anything, otherwise I will resort to what you said KJLYPW..thanks for the help.
Well I turned it on today and noticed that it makes a clicking kinda noise like behind the fuse box, don't know if that means a solenoid problem or what..? I took off the hood cowl cover and nothing helped the wipers, don't think they were stuck though..I kept it in a barn where the forces of nature wouldn't get to it..
Does your truck have intermittent wipers? If so, then it sounds like the wiper governor control module may have given up. You say you hear some clicking coming from the area around the fuse panel. Well, this module just happens to be located behind the fuse panel and above the parking brake bracket. Just follow the wiring from the wiper switch and you'll find it. It is a pain to get at but is probably the most likely suspect.
Yep, intermittent..guess that would be the culprit because that seems to be exactly where the noise is coming from. Wonder why it would go out after just sitting there all winter..
Since you have the cowl off pop the arm off the wiper motor see if you can move the wiper trasmissions by hand.. if they do turn the motor on with no connection to the wipers see if it goes then. if not take the wiper motor off remove the black cover where the second wire connector is take it off clean up the mess your going to find in there where the 3 brushes run on the comutator.. clean all that up with some tv turner cleaner and put it back on.. then plug them in see what happens.. just my 2 cents.. worked on mine

Well, I don't know where it is supposed to be. My under dash light was loose and I saw a wire dangling there. I used the light screw to ground it and bam, wipers were working.
