I'm WAS really getting serious about switching to Synthetic,But now I was told I will need a better oil filtering system. About $180.00,Labor around $100.00 then oil and filter around $60.00.About $350. to make the switch.OUCH

Reason: Misspelled word
Don, select a good synthetic, that says on it's container, that it's backwards compatable to previous "S" classifications, pour it in, screw on the specified Motorcraft filter & tug away!!!!
If your loosing sleep about the SM lubes lower level of Zinc & Phosphorus & if they're recipe has been compensated for otherwise, then select a dual rated gas/diesel synthetic & pour it in, with a Motorcraft filter & tug away.
If you think you need an engine oil cooler, for those long uphill, hot summer tugs, over your 8000 ft mountains, then go for a brand name, thermoststically contolled, low restriction, flat plate engine oil cooler.
But have someone who knows coolers & your engine, install it, as where they tap into the oiling system, to borrow the filtered oil to run through the cooler & where & how it's returned to the engine is vitally important imo.
Changing from dino to syn is nothing to lose sleep over.If you have a need for syn oil then change over to it.There will not be any life changing things happening.

A sales rep, perchance?
In any case, for the OP, even assuming up to $6/quart for the synthetic (Mobil 1, but some can be had for half as much in BigLots) plus $4 for an MC filter, the cost should be under $40 for the switch in most cases.
I was thinking the same (BS) but I said it different.
Curious, do you work for Big lots or own stock in Mobil or Motocraft?
I just find the paranoia about synthetic oil "reps" here irritating.
I see many oil suggestions/testimonials, links to factory sites, places to buy syn oil, yada, yada. But someone always seems to take offence to particular brand being mentioned even when there is no attempt to sell anything.
In this case there is no brand mentioned and no attempt to sell anything but yet you seem to smell a sale in the works.
BTW, even if someone mentions a particular brand here and he is in WA state and you go buy it in CA how does the first guy make any money from that and how is it tracked?
Show me how that works and you can sign me up, I will tell everyone I meet and get rich.
bud-man, I think the sales rep comment was made in reference to the need for unecessary aftermarket filtration systems and filters. You yourself addressed the very same thing. I don't believe it was directed at anyone who's posted to this thread.
In My trade,But know retired the same things always happed with diffrent product being compatable to one another. If done wrong BIG PROBLEMS.
Diffrent brands saying you have to use there product or you will have a falure. B.S
That is why I asked here. Not know and getting the wrong info. could be coastly
Thanks for all the information. You been a BIG help.

Huh?!? What does this have to do with the topic?
In any case, I don't work/hold stock or has any connection any of the above companies aside from occasionally visiting BigLots, and using MC FL820S.

Huh?!? Aren't you going off to the deep end?
That "sales rep" thing was in reference to the presumably recommended abypass filter setup, when one is not needed.

Lets set back and discuss oil.
We were discussing oil until your diatribe. And no, I won't be making any money on anything I recommend here, but I think if someone wants to get a good deal on synthetic, it's worth to check out BigLots first.
